Karol Urban Sound Design & Mix on “Anxious” for Discovery Health Channel

Karol Urban completed complete sound design and mix on Anxious airing during Psychology Week on Discovery Health Channel for Discovery Studios.

“This project was very dynamic because anxiety disorders are suffered internally and are not externally apparent to outside observers. Sound design employing electrical sounds, drones, and dopplered swells layered with heartbeats and breathe were used to jolt the viewer from their 3rd person perspective to the 1st person perspective of the sufferer. This allows the viewer to gain empathy for the plight of those inflicted with the disorder.”

In addition, as much of the footage was gathered using only FlipCam or other consumer grade cameras by the featured characters, dialog editing had to be very precise and sound design became even more important as a way to cloak background noise and audible atmosphere changes.
