January 2010 Karol Urban mixed two reality show/critical documentary hybrids for Planet Green. Blood, Sweat and Takeaway and Blood, Sweat and T-Shirts depicts 6 London processed food junkies and throw away fashion fans, respectively, who are challenged to see how their food and clothes are manufactured abroad. They will learn the non-monetary human cost of cheap food and clothes. According to Karol, "this is TV I wouldn't miss!" Both are currently airing on Planet Green. |

November 2009 A return to TIVA DC's Peer Awards rewarded UAP's Steve Urban with another award. This year Steve's sound design work for National Geographic's Bizarre Dino earned him a silver. The show covered over 14 different dinosaurs each with their own moment to shine. Which meant a minimum of 14 different dinosaur vocalization tracks had to be created. Quite a lot of fun, quite a lot of work! |

October 2008 Karol Urban was challenged with recreating all vintage plane sounds in post for the Military Channel Series Showdown Air Combat. "While neither the budget nor the time available to complete the project changed, the scope of work greatly increased due to the lack of production materials. I had the choice to either do some hunting and some research on engine styles and recreate in post the air combat scenes, or mix them like music videos. Since the show's demographic included a large segment of retired vets who have a tendency to prefer music low, but who know the difference between a A6M Zero and an F4U Corsair by ear, I had my work cut out for me. In the end, this is an example of the power of sound design and mix. The show's level of excitement and suspense were greatly increased due to just a little added effort." |

July 2006 Sound design and mix is completed for a 20 minute sitcom pilot, behind-the-scenes reel, and promo for a production called "The Circle" that was brought to us by a young promising production company, Root Branch Productions. The story explores the struggles of a conservative Senator from Oklahoma who unknowingly moves to Dupont Circle, DC's gay district. "The Circle" uses comedy, witty puns and anecdotes to push the line between politics, religion and human rights. Over time, this unique cast of characters will evolve despite their opposing views as they learn from each other simply by living together. "The Circle" is currently entering festivals. |
